Odd Fellows

Hello everyone! My name is Paige Jones, the director & writer of Odd Fellows: a feature length coming-of-age film about the explosive power of platonic love, art, beauty, and female friendship. Inspired by films such as Lady Bird (2017), Pen15 (2019), Stand by Me (1989), Francis Ha (2013), Ever After (1998), and Dead Poets Society (1989), Odd Fellows represents friendship—specifically female friendship—the way I viewed my friendships growing up: unapologetic, natural, and messy in the most beautiful way possible. How fitting that I’m partnering with two of my best friends, Hannah Herzog and Verve Reposar, to bring this story to life! Hannah, Verve and I have been producing films together since college. We’ve written, directed, shot, and acted in each other's projects for years, feeding a love and passion for the craft as much as for each other. This project is the culmination of years worth of that passion, as well as our combined efforts, experience, and inspiration to tell a story embodying… well… us! —and girls everywhere who seek to discover who they are and not lose their best friends along the way.

The Film
Welcome to Odd Fellows Academy! A boarding school with a lot to offer its students: pristine grounds and quiet corridors, accredited teachers, chicken every Monday and Wednesday, and the crushing weight of joining the corporate machine upon graduation. Odd Fellows offers only the highest quality education that adheres to the central “Pillars of Excellence” championing necessity over discovery and functionality over frivolity. Of course, this means that all forms of literature, art, music, theater, dancing, writing, or creation are non-existent to the point where present students have no idea such things ever existed! Meet Lucia and Rae: roommates at Odd Fellows, two young women at the pinnacle of self-discovery and aching with restlessness, and best friends who share a love so deep, it challenges everything the "Pillars of Excellence" threaten to eradicate. For Lucia and Rae, breaking the rules at Odd Fellows warrants terrifying consequences, but a secret the girls find on the outskirts of the property begs them to take that risk…

The Creators
The cast and crew of this film all have a deep passion for storytelling and the power it holds within the world we live. Filmmaking is the most collaborative art form and getting to create with fellow storytellers is every artist’s dream. Here are links to some of our past work: Magpie, Peeled Lemon, and Apollo Boy.

Paige Jones is the director/writer/producer/cinematographer of this short film.

Hannah Herzog is a producer and plays Lucia. Lucia is outspoken, fearless, and never afraid to push the boundaries at Odd fellows. She is scared her sometimes careless antics might cost her her best friend, Rae, along the way...

Verve Reposar is a producer and plays Rae. Rae is beautiful, talented, and utterly plagued by her need to be perfect and accepted by her teachers and peers. However with Lucia, Rae's secret desire for adventure takes powerful form, proving to be both her strength and her weakness...

The cast and crew have dedicated themselves to the creation of this film, all for no pay but all for the thrill.

The Cost
The money we raise here will cover the cost of flights from New York to Missouri and the travel to and from Kansas City for shooting at different locations. Food, lodging, props, audio equipment, and all the other joys of production and post-production will be covered as well.

Thank you so much for reading and we hope you can join us on this journey to make our biggest production yet! If you want to stay updated on our progress, follow our instagram: Citrus Studios where we'll be posting behind the scenes, teasers, and the inside scoop of what truly goes into making a movie.

All support is adored and we will SCREAM thank you!! We promise that your dollar will be the best dollar you've ever spent on a film created by people named Paige, Hannah, and Verve!
