The Cistercian College One Less thing for Lent campaign was set up in the College by Mr. Paddy Smyth and Fr. Aodhán in 2023. The idea behind the campaign is that anyone, student, staff member or friend of CCR chooses to give up something for lent and donate it's value to the "One less thing for Lent" fund.

Throughout 2023 and 2024, CCR raised €10,000 through the campaign. Every cent of the money raised has gone directly to Colomo Primary School in Uganda. This school is headed up by a local nun Sister Mona Maher.

As a result of this, five girls are now in school where they are fed, clothed, educated and looked after with their full seven years of education paid for. This is a remarkable achievement and surely must be one of our proudest icons of "Faith in action".

So this year, for lent 2025 we ask anyone and everyone to give up and donate.
