Cirugías y recuperación lumbar con implantes

Hi, my name is Denia Rangel, and I’m raising funds for the recovery and upcoming surgery of my mom, Rocio Baños Salinas.

Over the past four months, my mom has undergone four surgeries and is in the fight of her life. It all started in February 2025 when she had her first surgery—a hip implant. She was slowly recovering when, in March, she began to experience intense pain and lost mobility. After several tests, we were told she would need a second surgery, this time on her spine. Three vertebrae were severely damaged, and another was pressing on a nerve.

Despite trying physical therapy to avoid surgery, it wasn’t enough. On May 9, she underwent spinal surgery. A week later, while recovering at home, her blood pressure suddenly dropped, and she was rushed to the ER. She spent nearly a week in the ICU, fighting for her life. The diagnosis: a severe infection in the surgical site.

On May 18, she underwent an emergency third surgery to clean out the infection. After nearly three weeks of medication, IV fluids, supplements, and physical therapy, the infection finally subsided, and they were able to fully close her incision. We were hopeful she’d begin to heal, but her condition didn’t improve much—she suffered from constant pain, insomnia, loss of appetite, and significant weight loss. Still, she never gave up. Even while grieving the loss of my father just a year ago, she stayed strong and kept fighting.

Unfortunately, on Saturday, June 14, we noticed fluid leaking from her spinal wound—the infection had returned. On June 17, she had to undergo a fourth surgery, another washout, and this time they had to remove the entire spinal implant. We’ll have to replace it in the future. Her condition worsened, and she was transferred to another hospital because her current facility could no longer care for her properly. She is now intubated and fighting with all her strength to recover.

These surgeries, especially the spinal ones, have been extremely expensive. We've been incredibly blessed by support from both sides of our family, friends, coworkers, neighbors—even the nurses who’ve cared for her. But we’ve now reached the financial limit of what we can manage.

That’s why I’m reaching out to ask for your support. Any amount you can give—no matter how small—will go directly toward her medical expenses, recovery, and future surgery.

Hola, mi nombre es Denia Rangel y estoy recaudando fondos para la recuperación y próxima cirugía de mi mamá, Rocío Baños Salinas.

En los últimos cuatro meses, mi mamá ha pasado por cuatro cirugías y ha enfrentado una batalla médica muy dura. Todo comenzó en febrero de 2025 con una cirugía de implante de cadera. Aunque estaba en proceso de recuperación, en marzo comenzó a experimentar fuertes dolores y pérdida de movilidad. Tras varios estudios, le diagnosticaron un daño severo en la columna: tres vértebras desgastadas y una más presionando un nervio.

El 9 de mayo fue sometida a una segunda cirugía, esta vez en la columna. Aunque parecía haber salido bien, tan solo una semana después su salud empeoró gravemente: su presión arterial bajó drásticamente y fue ingresada a terapia intensiva, al borde de un infarto. Se descubrió que tenía una infección grave en la zona operada, y el 18 de mayo entró de nuevo a quirófano para un lavado quirúrgico de emergencia.

Parecía que todo iba mejorando: después de semanas de tratamiento intensivo, vitaminas, fisioterapia y cuidados, la infección cedió y pudieron cerrar la herida. Sin embargo, su cuerpo no terminaba de responder: dolores constantes, pérdida de apetito, insomnio y una notable pérdida de peso la mantenían débil. Aun así, mi mamá nunca se rindió. Ha seguido luchando, incluso mientras sigue de duelo por la pérdida de mi papá hace apenas un año.

Lamentablemente, el pasado sábado 14 de junio notamos que la herida volvía a drenar líquido: la infección había regresado. Ayer, 17 de junio, fue sometida a una nueva cirugía para retirar la prótesis de columna por completo y hacer otro lavado quirúrgico. Su estado se complicó aún más y tuvo que ser trasladada a otro hospital de mayor nivel. Ahora se encuentra intubada, luchando con todas sus fuerzas por salir adelante.

Las cirugías, especialmente las de columna, han sido extremadamente costosas. Gracias a Dios hemos contado con el apoyo de familiares, amigos, compañeros de trabajo y hasta enfermeras que se han solidarizado, pero ya hemos llegado al límite económico.

Por eso, hoy recurro a ustedes con el corazón en la mano, para pedir su ayuda. Cualquier donación, por pequeña que sea, hace una gran diferencia. Nos permitirá seguir cubriendo gastos médicos, tratamientos, medicamentos y su eventual rehabilitación.
