Cirugía para Eliza

Hola, somos Mirna y Eslí. Esta historia comenzó hace un año, planeamos tener un bebé y cuando nos enteramos que estábamos esperando nos dio muchísima alegría, con el tiempo supimos que era una niña lo cual nos puso mucho mas felices.

Lamentablemente a los 5 meses de embarazo nos dieron una terrible noticia la cuál nos partió el corazón, el diagnostico: ventrículo derecho hipoplásico. Esto significaba que la parte derecha del corazón no se formó y que al nacer no respiraría y moriría.

Acudimos a distintos médicos para escuchar una segunda opinión, pero el diagnostico era el mismo. La alegría se convirtió en una profunda tristeza y agonía. Ahora solo estaríamos esperando el nacimiento de nuestra bebé para verla morir. Ya teníamos preparativos para su funeral.

El día del nacimiento llegó: los abuelos, tíos y amigos estaban presentes, todos estábamos esperando lo peor, listos para despedirnos de ella.

Al nacer contra todo pronostico, nuestra bebé se aferró a la vida. Incluso sorprendiendo a los médicos quienes no se explicaban el porqué. Fueron minutos, horas y días... y Eliza seguía con nosotros.

Sin embargo nuestra pequeña Eliza necesita 3 cirugías en el corazón: la primera es la más urgente ya que el ducto que la mantiene con vida se está cerrando.

Por eso estamos apelando a ustedes, ya que esta cirugía nos da tiempo de mantenerla con vida para las siguientes dos cirugías que le permitirán tener una vida lo más normal posible y nosotros el poder disfrutar de verla crecer.

Hi, we're Mirna and Eslí. This story began a year ago. We were planning to have a baby, and when we found out we were expecting, we were overjoyed. Later, we found out it was a girl, which made us even happier.

Unfortunately, at five months pregnant, we received terrible news that broke our hearts: the diagnosis: hypoplastic right heart syndrome. This meant the right side of her heart hadn't been formed, and when born she wouldn't breathe and die.

We went to several doctors for a second opinion, but the diagnosis was the same. Our joy turned into a profound sadness and agony. Now we would just be waiting for our baby's birth for her to die. We had already made arrangements for her funeral.

The day of her birth arrived: grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends were all present. We were all expecting the worst, ready to say goodbye.

When she was born, against all odds, our baby clung to life. Even the doctors were surprised, they couldn't understand why. Minutes, hours, and days passed... and Eliza was still with us.

However, our little Eliza needs three heart surgeries: the first is the most urgent, as the duct that keeps her alive is closing.

That's why we're appealing to you, as this surgery gives us time to keep her alive for the next two surgeries, they will allow her to live a life as normal as possible, and we'll be able to enjoy watching her grow.
