First Time Experience For Excelling Students

This campaign is to help support my Speech/Action Civics elective. We would need the funds before MAY 20, 2019. These amazing students have risen to the occasion by upholding the values of our school: Justice for the community and an exercise of student voice.
This year, without any previous experience, they accepted the Soapbox (Speech) Challenge coordinated by Mikva and competed at the California Endowment Center on January 29. We took first place for Middle Schools.
In addition, these beautiful souls organized and did extensive research to bring immediate and direct change to their community. In collaboration with other associations like UTLA and the Boyle Heights Neighborhood Council, these class exercised their civic duty by attending rallies and events in protest of a new charter seeking to establish itself less than two blocks from our school. They created a project, which they presented at the Los Angeles City Hall, to raise awareness in regards to the need to support Public Schools. We have amazing students, but we need a bit of support.
Given our limited resources, it is not easy for us to fund field trips that give life experiences beyond academics. Yet, these experiences are so enriching, memorable and joyous.
I would so love for these kiddos to experience a show from Cirque du Soleil. Amaluna is currently near our area. I wish I could give the gift of this new experience to them. Cirque is known for upholding values such as excellence, perseverance, courage and creativity...just like the values that we seek to nurture.
I am estimating a price of $60 per student. I have 19 students, but would like to invite their Science, History and Math teachers as chaperones as well. I added about $100 more to help pay for parking/transportation.
