The Circle of Aunts and Uncles  is a micro-loan fund which provides low interest loans, advice, and connections for Philadelphia area entrepreneurs who don't have access to "family and friends" stage capital. Over the last five years, we have provided loans to 21 small businesses, primarily in the food industry, including a butcher, a baker and three ice cream makers. Like many small businesses, our entrepreneurs are in distress due to the business shut down made in response to the coronavirus. This public health crisis has caused many of our entrepreneurs to close, leaving their employees and businesses in jeopardy. We have set out to raise $30,000. The proceeds of this emergency fund will go towards the greatest needs among our entrepreneurs to help them pay employees, rent, utilities, and other basic expenses.

Now more than ever, we need to support our small businesses to keep our local economies alive and thriving. All of our food businesses buy from our local farmers, so helping them, helps our farmers, too.
