Circe's Surgery

Donation protected

Dear Friends and Family,

Please send prayers of health and swift recovery as our fur-baby Circe is having surgery to repair a broken femur!

The Story:

As Tad was driving home from the forest, Circe being his ever present road companion was riding along in the passenger seat.  The windows were down, and through the air floated the rich aroma of redwood duff freshly dampened from the rains.  Circe hung her puppy nose out to catch the scents of the forest and not surprisingly caught wind and sight of a squirrel, her favorite creatures to chase. As the van rambled along at 35 miles per hour, Circe gracefully launched her  coyote body out the window in pursuit of the fluffy tailed rodent.  Tad slammed on his brakes and told himself, "She nailed the landing.  She had to nail the landing." Well, she did in fact nail the landing, and along with that broke a femur right in half.

Tad rushed to her side, scooped up the poor soaked and muddy girl, and as she cried and whined from the pain, gently placed her in the back of his van and rushed to the hospital.

By the good graces of modern medicine and luck Circe is going to be okay.  She is going to receive surgery on her femur which will include a metal plate and potentially a rod through the bone.  She is predicted to heal well and be back to her spritely disposition within a couple months, given that we make sure she rests and does not do any strenuous activities during that time. The recovery may be hardest of all since she is generally a very playful and active athlete who loves the forest, beach, mountains, desert and anywhere in between.

As many of you know, Circe is a very sweet and special dog and we love her very much.  She is an ambassador of goodwill and cuteness to the world, a gentle and wise spirit who has many more good years to enjoy on this magical earth.

As you might imagine, we are going to do whatever we need to make sure our baby gets the care she needs.  That is going to mean at least $9,700 worth of medical expenses, not including any of the post-surgery recovery care.

We are asking for support from our community.  Any financial contribution you can make will be very helpful to us.  We know things get tight especially around the holidays and we truly appreciate any support you are able to give.

Thank you for your thoughts and well wishes, for your love of us and this beautiful wild creature, Circe. We are so honored to be her parents.

May all beings be healthy, happy, safe and free!

Many thanks.

Love,

Angela and Tad (and Circe, of course).
