Cinnamon is an affectionate, gentle, and much loved calico cat diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. She loves to snuggle and to sit in the window and watch her frenemy the squirrel, and she still has the energy of a kitten when she plays with her toys. When she became ill, she had an extremely adverse reaction and can no longer take Methimazole, the prescribed medication for her condition.
Without treatment, Cinnamon will continue to lose weight, and will succumb to the disease. The only alternative is Radioiodine/I-131. Iodine is an element needed for normal health. It is primarily used by the thyroid gland to produce the thyroid hormone. Iodine in its radioactive state is taken up by the thyroid gland, and it destroys the tumor. This treats the hyperthyroid condition with no or little side effect. A single dose is effective in curing hyperthyroidism in over 98% of cats. However, the treatment, including blood work and a four day hospital stay, is about $2,000. Cinnamon’s mom has already spent more than $1200 for medical expenses, and she is not financially able to pay for this treatment. She is too proud to ask for help, so I have decided to do this for her and Cinnamon, my furry grand baby.
Will you please, please help Cinnamon? This courageous cat needs more time with her Mommy, her kitty sister Nutmeg, and those who love her. Please donate today so Cinnamon can go on living her best life. I promise, I am donating also.
