Cinnamon: Short Film - Support Student Filmmaking!

Hi there! My name is Jack Ludolph, and I am a second-year student at DePaul University’s School of Cinematic Arts in Chicago. I am so excited to announce my directoral debut, a drama short film entitled "Cinnamon"! We are currently in the pre-production process, and the film will shoot in the coming months.
"Cinnamon" follows the story of a young college student named Lucy whose world has just been turned upside down as her mother has just passed away due to an accidental drug overdose the previous week. She misses her mother and the close bond that they had, but the thing she misses most of all is her famous cinnamon roll recipe that she never wrote down or shared anywhere. However, she is shocked to unearth an old diary from her mother filled with recounts of an old abusive relationship, and the bitter truth that her biological father might not be who she thinks he is. With the support of her best friend Devyn, she is sent down a journey to get in touch with a woman who might have the answers she is looking for about her true father, and the icing on top - could she know the recipe to bringing her mom's baking back to life?
This story was inspired by my Grandma Toni who has grown up making my sister and I her cinnamon rolls, and I think that anyone, especially college students, can relate to missing home-cooked meals that remind them of family. "Cinnamon" will tackle some heavy topics like grief and domestic violence; I feel that it is important to spread awareness about the issues that young women often face in society. At its core, this is a story about identity and overcoming adversity, and I want to send a message of positivity to anyone that might be grappling with significant life changes like Lucy.
Making a short film is no cheap task - bringing this story to life will not be possible without your support. The funds will go to important resources such as transportation, production design, crew meals, and film festival applications. It is important to me that my talented crew, all of whom are classmates of mine, is well taken care of and has the support they need to hone their craft.
