Hello, my name is Paula, and I am an emerging film director. I am currently developing my thesis film inspired by the work of Bruno Schulz, a Jewish-Polish writer whose life and legacy were tragically cut short during World War II.
This project comes from a deep admiration for Schulz’s imaginative world. Through this short film, I hope to bring his universe back to life, exploring its mythological essence through Jewish symbolism and my own visual language.

Hola, mi nombre es Paula y soy una directora de cine emergente. Actualmente estoy desarrollando mi película de tesis inspirada en la obra de Bruno Schulz, un escritor judeo-polaco cuya vida y legado fueron trágicamente interrupidos durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial.
Este proyecto nace de una profunda admiración por el mundo imaginativo de Schulz. A través de este cortometraje, espero devolverle vida a su universo, explorando su esencia mitológica mediante el simbolismo judío y mi propio lenguaje visual.

SYNOPSIS
EN
Bruno lives in a house full of tension and a strange, almost dreamlike atmosphere. While his mother struggles to keep the family fabric business afloat , his father Jakub sinks into deep physical and mental decline.
Bruno moves between everyday reality and the world of fantasy. After finding a feather-shaped key, he begins to uncover his father’s double life and witnesses him injecting a mysterious black liquid. This investigation leads Bruno and his friends to an unsettling place where the boundaries of reality begin to dissolve.

Bruno vive en una casa llena de tensión y de una atmósfera extraña, casi onírica. Mientras su madre lucha por mantener a flote el negocio familiar de telas, su padre, Jakub, se hunde en un profundo deterioro físico y mental.
Bruno se mueve entre la realidad cotidiana y el mundo de la fantasía. Tras encontrar una llave con forma de pluma, comienza a descubrir la doble vida de su padre y lo observa inyectándose un misterioso líquido negro. Esta investigación lleva a Bruno y a sus amigos a un lugar inquietante donde los límites de la realidad comienzan a desaparecer.

I want to approach this story through the experience of a child at a pivotal moment—when the idealized image of the father figure begins to fracture and reveal something more complex and human.
I am drawn to the myth of childhood innocence. I believe in childhood there is an instinctive pull toward the forbidden—a desire to understand and to follow curiosity into the unknown. It is within this tension that a child’s inner world begins to take shape.
This inner world is filled with fantasy, enigma, and transformation. Through the lens of a child, reality becomes stranger, more intense. I want to capture that moment where the first cracks in perception begin to appear.
By telling this story, I hope to evoke a universal emotional experience: the quiet transition from innocence to awareness.

Quiero abordar esta historia a través de la experiencia de un niño en un momento decisivo: cuando la imagen idealizada de la figura paterna comienza a resquebrajarse y revela algo más complejo y humano.
Me atrae el mito de la inocencia infantil. Creo que en la infancia existe una atracción instintiva hacia lo prohibido: un deseo de comprender y de seguir la curiosidad hacia lo desconocido. Es en esta tensión donde el mundo interior de un niño empieza a tomar forma.
Este mundo interior está lleno de fantasía, enigma y transformación. A través de la mirada de un niño, la realidad se vuelve más extraña, más intensa. Quiero capturar ese momento en el que comienzan a aparecer las primeras grietas en la percepción.
Al contar esta historia, espero evocar una experiencia emocional universal: la transición silenciosa de la inocencia a la conciencia.

This project is a co-production Czech-US production company, and we are also applying for regional Czech film grants to further support its development.
