Hi friends and family and every single loved one
On Tuesday, July 20th, Cindy (who is a WELL beloved mother, daughter, friend/family to every person she meets) was simply driving to work when her world was abruptly flipped upside down. As she took a basic left turn into the parking lot of Trader Joe’s, a car came around the corner at a horrifyingly excessive speed and T-boned her passenger side so badly, the entire right side of the car was crushed all the way into the driver’s side.
She was rushed to Valley Medical where it was determined quickly that her trauma case was so severe that she needed to be transferred to the Harborview trauma ICU. She spent 3 days in the ICU where scans, imaging, x-rays, etc. showed that her extensive injuries included 3 broken ribs, 2 fractures in her lower spine, and plenty of internal bleeding; lacerated and cracked liver, spleen and kidney, along with intense bruising and cuts over her entire body. Fast forward a couple days, scans revealed that her liver was pushed so far up into her diaphragm and ribs, that it was putting too much pressure on her lungs and she struggled to breathe. She was rushed to surgery to essentially reposition her ruptured diaphragm to alleviate the pressure off her lungs and place screws and plates in her broken ribs.
Currently, she is going on 12 days in the hospital with about a week to go. She is out of the ICU and into acute trauma care, her oxygen levels are improving and physical therapy is kicking her a**, but she’s progressing. With the scary stuff dealt with, the family has had time to start realizing the even scarier stuff: how to deal, recover and move on from this.
We are reaching out to all our friends and family we love so dearly to help us ease the burden and emotional stress of handling ambulance costs, towing and impound and total vehicle loss, hospital care, surgery costs, medication, supplies for home care (i.e. a walker), lost wages for both her and family members who will be taking leave to care for her, and intense support going forward- as her recovery could take months to years.
We want to thank every single one of you who has followed the updates, and for every single prayer, thought, good vibes and all the love sent her way. Every ounce of it has been received and has kept her in good spirits. Any single penny is astronomically appreciated.
thank you from all of us, we love you all.
