Cindy's Heart Transplant Journey

Donation protected
Cindy Depourcq Lecuyer underwent a 12+ hour heart transplant surgery on 3/7/2023 and is currently recovering at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver BC.

Cindy was born with a rare congenital heart defect – tricuspid atresia and two holes in her heart, which has required a life full of doctor exams, tests, and invasive heart procedures prior to her transplant this month. Throughout her five decades living with a CHD, Cindy has faced the challenges brought onto her with amazing fortitude and continuous strength. Through this unfathomable experience, she has continually been a brave face and a positive light to those around her.

Over the last six months, Cindy suffered from multiple episodes of atrial fibrillation causing continuous fatigue and pain from the weakness of her old heart. These episodes continued and could not be resolved as her heart was now "in failure". This began a rapid decline in her overall health and her other organs started to be affected as well. The past months were spent displaced from her home and family in Penticton, while she endured many diagnostic tests and procedures in Vancouver.

After this recent hospitalization and transplant, the doctors expect it will take several months until she can return home. Cindy's husband, Steph Lecuyer, has been by her side this entire time providing endless love and care. This has caused their family to be without a steady income and incur extensive expenses related to his stay in Vancouver for the next several months to aid in Cindy's recovery.

A strong recovery during the first year after transplant is critical for long-term success. We are incredibly grateful for this 2nd chance for Cindy. We will forever live in gratitude for the donor family's absolute and inconceivable generosity.

We humbly ask you to consider donating to and sharing Cindy's GoFundMe which will contribute directly to her continuous medical bills and living expenses brought onto her and Steph. We continue to pray for her successful recovery and we thank you for your support, friendship, and love.
