Our wonderful mom, Cindy Thomas, passed away the night of Sunday, March 26th. She went peacefully, with her children and her granddaughter by her side. 

Our mom devoted her life to helping others. She spent decades working tirelessly in homeless shelters, recovery homes and community centers helping to improve the lives of those suffering from mental health issues, addiction and the cycle of poverty. She was an immeasurable force for empathy, love and genorisity in her life.

We were all lucky to grow up watching her repeatedly and enthusiastically give of herself to others. We never stopped being in awe of her ability to see the humanity in everyone, regardless of their current circumstances. She instilled these values in all of us - radical, aggresive, uncompromising compassion and love. For everyone and at all times. The most important thing you could do in her memory is to follow her example. 

We all miss her terribly, and any help you can provide during this difficult time is very appreciated. We've been very grateful for all your messages of support and the stories you've shared with us about how much mom meant to you. She truly was an incredible person that impacted countless lives in more ways than we'll ever know. 

Unfortunately, we've been left with substantial bills in addition to the (pretty ridiculous) cost of mortuary services and the cemetery.  We have to come up with approximately $5,000 on very, very short notice. While I can cover a small amount of that, sadly none of us are in a position where we can conjure up several thousand dollars in a matter of days. 

So as uncomfortable as this makes us, we need to ask for help. Anything you can contribute would be very, very appreciated. Helping financially, sharing any advice you might have or simply sharing this along. It would all help.
