Cindy (Heimler) McCord was diagnosed with stage four Esophageal cancer on April 1st, 2018 at the age of 52. The cancer cells have reached the lymph nodes in her stomach and neck while continuing to spread. Cindy is starting her treatment with four sessions of chemotherapy, of which she already completed three. Then, followed by a Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scan to gauge if the chemotherapy is preventing the cancer cells from spreading to other organs. After, doctors will determine if continuing chemotherapy is the best course of action regarding her quality of life. Based upon her doctor’s recommendation, an additional four sessions of chemotherapy will be provided. Cindy is receiving chemotherapy sessions every two weeks for 48 hours. Along with several medications, chemotherapy is being utilized in attempt to alleviate her pain. The cells have metastasized too much for doctors to operate or cure at this point and is considered to be incurrable. 

Cindy is a beautiful mother of four children, Molly, Garrett, Mallorie, and Morgan. Her loving husband of 27 years, Brandon, has taken a leave from his full time job to be her primary caregiver during this difficult time. As many of you may know Cindy, she is the life of the party and one of the most selfless individuals you will meet. She always goes out of her way to help and continuously looks for the best in people. If you don’t know Cindy, then just look for the brightest smile and most contagious laugh in the room. There, you will find her greeting you as if you already knew one another.  

Since day one, Cindy has received an overwhelming amount of support from friends and family; however, the out-of-pocket costs for her treatment and medication is exponential. While Cindy is eligible to receive short-term disability, unfortunately is not enough to pay for their household expenses and medical costs. Therefore, we are starting this fund to provide some peace of mind for Cindy and Brandon to prepare for the biggest fight of their lives.
