Help Cindy Beat Cancer!

For those of you that know Cindy, she is one of the most selfless and giving people you will ever meet. She works hard and is there without question when her friends or family need anything, but never asks for help if she’s struggling.

In October 2023, what started out as a normal mammogram screening would soon become more. After finding a lump in her right breast, a referral for a consult resulted in an immediate biopsy. In December, Cindy was diagnosed with invasive lobular carcinoma. Her oncologist and breast surgeon put a plan into place.

Cindy’s first surgery was scheduled for January 30th, a double mastectomy. The surgery went well, but with a minor change as they were unable to put in tissue expanders which meant an additional surgery that was later scheduled for February 9.

While being prepped for surgery on February 9, the pre-op nurses noticed an arrhythmia. At first we all just thought this was from being nervous and anxious for yet another surgery, but the surgeon and anesthesiologist determined she should be sent to the ER for evaluation. This resulted in a 30 hour hospital stay and an initial diagnosis of atrial flutter. The coming weeks consisted of visits with cardiologists and electrophysiologists, and a revised diagnosis of AFIB with flutter. Fortunately, the doctors felt several medications could help manage the diagnosis as she continues through the cancer care journey. Cindy was able to move forward with the tissue expander surgery on February 16 with no complications.

The next step of Cindy’s journey begins on Monday, March 18 with chemotherapy infusions. She is scheduled for four rounds of chemotherapy, every three weeks.

Now’s the time when Cindy needs your help…

The biggest financial pressure is the cost of the drugs needed to manage her newly discovered heart arrhythmia, as the cost of these two drugs alone are roughly $1,200 a month (and that is with Medicare and a Medigap supplement plan!!).

With all of the surgeries and now chemotherapy, Cindy has had to stop working one of her two jobs. With a reduced income and much time needed away from work for appointments and infusions, her income has taken a huge hit.

We appreciate and thank you for anything you can do to help support Cindy’s journey to kick cancers ass, from prayers to a financial donation.
