Thank you for taking the time to read about our Mom's journey.  She has had a long battle with bladder cancer (she already beat thyroid cancer).  Over the course of the last four years, she has had multiple surgeries and chemotherapy treatments.  During her last surgery, at the end of 2019, they found more cancerous tumors.  She was hoping to get into a clinical trial at WVU Hospital in Morgantown, WV, but the trial never took off.  They explained a couple treatment options, but the doctors recommended she first try a new round of chemo.  This requires her to drive to Morgantown (2.5hr trip) every week for 6 weeks and then once a month for a year.  We are hoping she responds better to this chemo, but only time will tell. Our mother is the last person that would ask for help, but has been there for so many in need.  However, she is already facing piling medical bills that she will have to pay most of out of pocket, not to mention the travel costs she will accrue. She has worked full time through her treatment and will likely continue to do so until someone holds her down!  She is an amazing mom and 'grammi/mimi' who loves having pillow fights and building forts with her grandchildren.  She keeps the most positive attitude and was a great source of strength for me as she taught me how to fight with grace, also.
