My name is Valerie and I am raising funds for my cousin's family whose home burned.

Saturday, late in the evening, there was a tragic fire at Cindy and Ronnie's house. Christi had just gotten a new regulator for her mom's oxygen, plugging it in threw a breaker. Somehow from there, it sparked a plug on the back patio and a few minutes later, they noticed flames outside the window. Christi and Cindy were able to get out, Christi went back in to try to get Cindy's oxygen thing but the back, french doors, collapsed inward as she was trying to get the oxygen. We're thankful they were able to get out safely!

Ronnie recently went to a nursing home for rehab. Cindy is not in good health and is on oxygen 100% of the time.

Christi, who is their daughter, has a beautiful heart and loves her kids, grandbabies, and the kids she teaches in Sunday School more than anything in the world!! They would all give you the shirt off their back if they thought you needed it, just good, kind people.

Christi has an aortic dissection that has ruptured before, as most know. Her condition is stable, but she's not an able-bodied person to pick through the pieces. She is in grief, disbelief, and despair, and needs your prayers more than anything, she has an incredible faith in God that everything will work out according to His plan, which I believe as well.

Cindy is at Joyce's for now, and Ronnie is at a nursing facility. Christi is at Jordyn's temporarily. Thankful for family and God to carry us through this day. Thankful everyone was safe. I don't know what goal to set. The restoration guy who stopped by to ambulance chase was kind enough to wrap caution tape around the perimeter of the property and give us some KN95 masks to wear while going through the house trying to find important papers and sentimental things. He said taking the back part of the house off, demo...would be around $25k.

Cindy, Ronnie, and Christi are all on fixed incomes that are less than you or I could think of living on. Now the place Ronnie is, takes his monthly check for his living expense, putting Cindy and Christi in an even worse financial situation. If you can give a little to help them out, the immediate need is clothing for Cindy, and she'll have to have all of her medication refilled; none survived the fire.

If you could take a moment to pray for the family, that is so appreciated! If you can donate to help out, please do. Every little bit will help. I am not sure what longer-term expenses are, but the entire house will have to be cleaned out, insulation removed, and the roof replaced at the very least. When they get the roof off and someone to get a better look at what's going on, there could be more needed.

Please give as little or as much as you can, every bit adds up. I can update as we know more information, for now the house is not liveable, the electric company took out the meter and the smoke smell throughout the front of the house is pretty unbearable. All beds, furniture and most clothing will have to be replaced, washing things several times has not taken the strong smell out.

Thank you for taking the time to read Christy, Cindy and Ronnie's story, please do what you can to help this sweet family during this unimaginable time.
Update, I did not add that there is no insurance but that's important to know. When you buy a house in 1970 something, (it was Cindy and Ronnies first house!!) Insurance wasn't a requirement so much. Thank you again!! Love and prayers and lots of thank you's to all who can help out.
