Hello Everyone,
It has been a while since my last update and since many of you have been reaching out, I thought it was time to share the most up-to-date information. A lot has happened in the past two months, both personally and professionally.
As you know, when I finished the first six rounds of chemotherapy, I had a PetScan to determine if the chemo worked in killing the cancer. After many more tests and biopsies, on September 10th, I learned that while the chemo worked on my initial cancer, they found another form of cancer hiding behind the original one. Certainly not the news we were hoping for. In addition, on that SAME DAY, I was let go from my job. Needless to say, September 10th was not a good day!
I have been successfully working full time throughout my cancer treatments, using my paid time off for my chemo and doctors’ appointments. My termination was NOT a performance issue, so you can imagine, being let go was as devastating as learning I had an additional cancer to fight. We lost our income and our health insurance.
I have surgery coming up in two weeks, which will hopefully remove the remaining tumors/cancer. After that hurtle, I will be actively looking for the next step in my career. In the meantime, we still have medical bills and out-of-pocket medical expenses to get through this next phase.
You, all, have been so supportive and generous in your contributions, which we so appreciate! Regardless of what life continues to challenge us with, (the job loss has been a huge curveball), we are determined to continue this fight, because we still have a ways to go. Even if the surgery goes well, the doctors have told us that there will be continuous testing to monitor any changes for the next year. This has been an extremely humbling time for us, and a situation I never thought we would be in. Please do not feel pressured or obligated, in any way, to contribute, but sharing this with others would be a huge help.
Thank you for your continued prayers and support. It means SO much to us.
With much Love,
Cindy
