We now have the endowment fund set up for Cindy. We'll stop collecting donations here, but anyone who wants to donate directly to the fund can do so in one of two ways:

Cindy Lobel touched the lives of so many people. She leaves behind a loving group of family and friends who are devastated by her loss, and former students who were enriched by her teaching and scholarship. Many of you have reached out to ask how you can support Cindy's family, including her husband Peter and their sons, Ben and Jonah, during this difficult time.
You can support Cindy's family in three ways through this fund. Cindy was beloved by many and we anticipate that her memorial service at Lehman College on October 13th will be very large. Your contribution will help her family cover that cost. Additionally, we are establishing two ways for Cindy's legacy to live on. Your contribution will support a scholarship for future students at Lehman College, where Cindy taught. We are also going to dedicate a bench in Prospect Park in Cindy's name. It is a place she loved to visit, where she sometimes jogged, and played with her sons. Thank you for contributing to support these efforts. Our friends at GoFundMe want me to provide a little more information about myself to make sure this is all legitimate. I'm Peter Kafka's brother, Cindy's brother-in-law. I live in California, but I've marked the campaign as being in Brooklyn as that's where they live. In order to have one less hassle for Peter, I've setup the funds to be withdrawn to me. I'll then be sending a check either to Peter or directly to cover the costs above, whichever is more convenient for Peter and family.
