Hi,
My dog, Socks, and I are walking again this March to raise money for the American Cancer Society. In 2025 we raised over $3000 and our goal is to get to $3500 this time around. Last year we walked for my neighbor, Donna, who was being treated for lung cancer. She is on the left in the photo above. This year we are also walking for our neighbor, Cheryl, in the Hope Never Quits t-shirt.
The good news is that Donna's treatment was successful and she is doing great. But there is other news to share. Recently, several close friends and neighbors have received new cancer diagnoses, including my best friend since 7th grade, Marsha Jepson Jay, my Palo Alto and Stanford friend, Anna Adelina Patitucci (“Tooch”), and my dear Boise neighbor, Cheryl Yost. And two people that I adored, my pickleball partner, Greg Foerstel, and my cousin-in-law, Sylvie Johnson, both lost their lives to cancer this past year. So, this year we are walking for Marsha, Anna, Cheryl, Greg, Sylvie, and Donna.
We are also walking for my dad, Geo, who died from lung cancer 14 years ago this month, and for both my grandfathers, Al Leith (lung cancer) and Herb Shorney (bladder cancer). I have many other friends and relatives who, like Donna, are thankfully doing well after going through cancer treatments. We will be walking in tribute to all of them.
I’m betting that everyone reading this has been affected by cancer. Please join me and Socks in honoring those who have successfully been through treatment, those currently in the midst of it, and those no longer with us because of this terrible disease. If you are so inclined, we would appreciate any amount you can give to help fund cancer research. All proceeds go directly to the American Cancer Society and their partners who every day are getting closer to a cure.
With gratitude and hope,
Cindy
