Ella, my 14 year-old ballet dancer granddaughter was invited by her director after a set of grueling qualifications to attend the 5-day dance festival, in Phoenix AZ in the month of May.

This is a huge opportunity and a great honor to be asked to take part in this intense dance workshop, as it is held regionally every year- but nationally only every 7 years, which falls on May 2-6, 2017.

Only the dancers with the most drive and potential are invited, and the opportunity to be seen by scouts and Regional Dance America and therefore qualify for a grant, is the goal of everyone attending.

I will go with Ella as her chaperone, and the cost of the dance kit, 2 flights, 6 night hotel stay, food, dancewear/shoes/costumes and general travel expenses for the both of us, came to approximately $3750.

Ella is the most driven young lady that I have ever seen, and often forgoes party events (like her own birthday party and trips to Magic Mountain!) as her love of ballet and dance tops all other things. She knows the financial cost for pursuing this passion is and has been extreme for her parents to sustain.  She is aware and very grateful for every month that her mother and father are able to support her in her study of ballet.

This means so much to her parents, and me, and especially Ella to attend such an important festival/class and I know Ella is excited and thrilled for the opportunity to show her stuff!
