Please help us give Cillian the best quality of life we can. This is little Cillian, the cherished son of Keith and Pauline. He is 6 years old and lives with his parents in Swords, Dublin. Cillian was born with a life limiting Mitrochondrial disease, with his parents receiving his diagnosis just after he turned 1. His complex needs and daily seizures mean he needs round the clock care. His Mammy Pauline is his sole carer and therefore can't work. His Dad Keith is the sole earner for the household, covering their mortgage, household bills and additional costs. Because Keith works full time, and they own their small 2 bed terraced townhouse, the grants and allowances available to Keith and Pauline are limited. As he is getting bigger & and older, caring for Cillian at home is becoming increasingly difficult.
His parents need to make massive adaptations to their house, opening up the downstairs to accommodate Cillian's wheelchair, including a wet room for showering, the installation of hoists and a lift to be able to bring him to bed (their house is not wide enough to accommodate a stair lift) As mortgage payers, they get a very limited amount in grants and are approved for a home improvement loan, but this is nowhere near enough to cover the cost of the adapatations they need. We are trying to raise funds wherever we can so that Keirh and Pauline's house can finally become a home where Cillian can be comfortably cared for the rest of the time we are blessed with.
About Cillian: little "Cill Baby" is a 6 year old boy who enjoys music videos and likes to watch them on the TV. He also enjoys cause and effect toys. Cillian attends St. Michael’s House, Special National School in Baldoyle, where he is supported by a wonderful team of teachers, SNA’s and nurses. Cillian is a full time wheelchair user and is non verbal, but loves to sing anyway! Cillian presents with multiple and complex diagnoses including Global Developmental
Delay, Encephalopathy, Epilepsy and Metabolic Disorder. Cillian does not take food orally, he is PEG fed. Cillian is in need of specialised equipment to lift him ..he is now 35 kilos and growing. His parents have to renovate their small terraced home to facilitate his needs with lift and special bathroom etc.
We would appreciate it so much if you could contribute any amount to help ease the burden and stress that Cillians Mam and Dad are facing and every little helps.
