On Labor Day my daughter Cierra had to be air lifted to Children’s Hospital of Orange County at that time I was told she is critically ill and will be admitted to the neuroscience unit. For a week I stayed at the hospital, not leaving her side I was so determined to make sure I advocated for Cierra especially when she got so critical of not being able to speak or communicate and as I watched her mental status decline and her symptoms worsening I knew I could no longer fight for her primarily in a mother role but also utilize my knowledge and experience to help the doctors coordinate the best treatment. I got asked multiple times if I was a doctor or work in the nursing field ‍⚕️”no not at all I’m simply a concerned mother and yes it helps that I’m a Marriage and Family Therapist and Crisis Counselor I’ve been hospitalized multiple times and I know my daughter so yes I’m well informed” Cierra has developed an Autoimmune Illness/Disease called Systemic Lupus Erythematous(SLE) She also developed CNS Lupus, it is one of the rare Lupus, basically the Lupus is attacking her brain. I don’t know how long Cierra will be in the hospital as we understand we have a long fight ahead of usAs a mother the emotions I am experiencing is indescribable...my soul have been snatched.
