Ciara lost most of her left arm, she’s been living in that parallel universe, one where she’d power through, barely acknowledging the amputation—until she went back her horses.

Life’s been moving too quickly for her recently lately. She has been on autopilot, checking off boxes for the sake of checking them off. She’s been constantly adjusting her vision to fit the full picture of how her life and recovery should be.

But oversimplifying life only makes time move faster. Trying to comprehend the “big things” and AMPUVERSARIES all at once is exhausting. Noticing, how now she notices, is also opening up an abundance that she hasn’t felt in a while. Paying attention has given me her: new experiences, friends, and new opportunities she never thought she’d have. I think what she is trying to say is that what you notice, notices you back.

Truth is, she’s still exhausted. But by noticing, and letting herself be fascinated by, these moments she is uncovering more bubbles of joy than she had before. Life feels just little bit richer, and a little slower once again.

While she remains strong and determined, the road ahead comes with significant physical, emotional, and financial challenges.

The prosthetic arm she needs to regain independence is not covered by insurance, leaving a large out-of-pocket expense. This prosthetic is more than just a medical device — it represents freedom, confidence, and the ability to return to everyday life, horses and work something that she never dreamed could be possible, until she met with Open Bionics.
