Ciara's Fight Against Cancer

Dearest Family, Friends, and Well-wishers,

First let us extend our thanks to everyone for all of the love and support that has been shown to our family during this difficult time. Now, more than ever, we will need you all!

It all began over a year ago when Ciara started suffering from severe allergies. Over the course of the year she was put on several allergy medications and even began allergy shots in April 2016. As time went on she wasn't getting any better, in fact she was getting worse. She couldn't breathe out of her nose, was completely congested, and began snoring at night and even developed sleep apnea. It was determined that a surgery to remove her adenoids and tonsils would be the best thing to help give her some relief and allow her to breathe again. On December 20th, during that surgery, a large mass was discovered. This mass was the reason she wasn't breathing well so they took a biopsy. On Dec 22nd, nothing could have prepared her parents for the words, "Ciara has cancer."

Ciara was diagnosed with B Cell Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, Stage 3. Because of the location of the tumor, she was kept on a ventilator to keep her airway open and began emergent chemotherapy. Thankfully the tumor responded well and a week later, she was taken off the ventilator. After a PET scan, bone marrow aspiration, and lumbar puncture, we got continued good news that there were no other tumors found in her body, no Leukemia, and no cancer cells found in her spinal fluid. A power port was inserted into her chest for all future treatments, meds, and fluids. Ciara was to undergo approximately 6 months of treatment, totaling for 6 rounds of chemotherapy, 4 of which would result in week long stays in the hospital as they would be aggressive treatments. With each treatment, she undergoes a lumbar puncture to infuse the chemotherapy medication directly into her spinal fluid. The side effects of her treatments have been extreme nausea and fatigue, compromised kidney function, lowered blood cell counts and hair loss.

Ciara has now completed 2 rounds of chemotherapy and is scheduled to begin round 3 next Thursday. She'll be admitted the day prior to begin fluids for her kidneys and will get a PET scan to check on the status of her tumor and to ensure no other masses have developed in her body.

The Neal family asks for your monetary contributions to provide financial support during this difficult time of recovery for Ciara. No contribution is too small in this moment of need. Every donation helps and is greatly appreciated. If you are unable to donate, please “like” and “share” this story, and please PRAY! May God bless all of you for your generosity and may He continue to keep or Warrior Princess Ciara strong through this long and difficult journey she is facing!

"She made broken look beautiful and strong look invincible. She walked with the Universe on her shoulders and made it look like a pair of wings." -Ariana Dancu

We thank you for your kindness and support!
