Ciara's Dream-CMU's Summer Musical Theatre Program
Donation protected
My niece, Ciara Hargrove (16), has been accepted into the Summer 2019 Pre-College Drama Program at Carnegie Mellon, in Pittsburg, PA. There, she will experience campus life and receive training in musical theatre at the very school where she dreams of attending when she graduates from High School. We are extremely excited for and proud of Ciara, and are seeking your support in helping her achieve her dream.
Ciara has loved dancing, acting and singing all her life. At age 3, she began ballet and hip hop at various dance schools such as The Washington School of Ballet and Culture Shock DC. She is also well-trained in jazz and modern dance. Ciara has participated in the musicals and programs of companies such as Camp Broadway, The Theatre Lab in Washington, DC, The Fredericktowne Players in in Frederick, MD, The Arlington Players in Arlington, VA, and The National Cathedral School in Washington, DC. She is currently a member of the Washington National Cathedral Choir in Washington, DC, where she sang with the Choir at the funeral services for Senator John McCain and former President George H.W. Bush.
By age 9, Ciara had completed a musical theatre intensive at Camp Broadway in Atlanta, GA where she performed a kid's version of "The Pajama Game". Over the past several years, she has played in 18 shows, 4 of which she starred in leading roles (Gabriella in "High School Musical", Darlene Love in "Leader of the Pack", Ariel in "The Tempest", and Iris in "The World We Live In"). Over the past 4 years, Ciara has performed with the New York Pop Birthday Gala at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Currently, she is starring in principle roles as Diana Morales in "A Chorus Line", and Alice Beane in "Titanic".
The funds we are seeking to raise will be used to pay the fees and expenses for the Pre-College Drama Program at Carnegie Mellon this summer. All fees associated with the program are due in early May, so we are asking that all donations be made by April 30, 2019.
Your support means so much to me and, of course, to Ciara. She is a phenomenal young lady with remarkable talent and abilities, and an amazing strength of character to manage the academic rigor of her studies at the National Cathedral School and the time demands of the performing arts.
We are so grateful for your help and support.
