In loving memory of "Ciano" Abundis

Hello, my name is Leticia Trevino-Flores, and I am a family friend of the Salazar, Andrade and Martinez family.

Life can take an unexpected turn in a blink of an eye. It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of “Ciano” Jose Feliciano Abundis’, sudden passing due to heart complications on Sunday, October 15, 2023.

Ciano, beloved son, dedicated father to “Coco” and loving husband to McKayla will be greatly missed.

Ciano was born with Heterotaxy/Asplenia, a rare birth defect that caused an abnormal heart distribution and led him to be in and out of the hospital his entire life. During his short life, he underwent 3 open heart surgeries. Fortunately, in June 2010, at the young age of 8, Ciano received the gift of life from Faith Poveda, and had a heart transplant.

He was a fighter, having battled several illnesses including heart, kidney, lymphoma, heart rejection, and diabetes. Although he had a lot to overcome, he fought to the best of his ability.

Through it all, he graduated from Richard King High School in 2021 and started working at Dairy Queen, where he met his wife McKayla. They married in December 2021, and in October 2022, he became a proud father to their son, Jose Feliciano Abundis III – also known as “Coco”. Ciano loved being a dad to Coco and would spend countless hours playing with and caring for him. McKayla is currently in her last trimester expecting their daughter, Penelope Ann Abundis.

Sadly, this young family will experience life without their beloved father. McKayla will have the great responsibility to raise two children on her own. This family will be forever impacted by this tragic loss.

As family and friends, we now have the opportunity to rally together for the betterment of those Ciano held so near and dear to his heart.

There are many ways you can support McKayla, Coco and Penelope. Whether it’s a visit, a meal, or a financial contribution. Every gift makes a difference.

McKayla is now the sole income earner for her family and will inevitably face challenges, which include:

Funeral Expenses (approximately $13,000)
Hospital Expenses (for both Ciano and the birth of Penelope)
Insurance Deductibles (for both Ciano and the birth of Penelope)
Infant Care and Necessities

Thank you for your compassion and support. In the spirit of transparency and connection, we pledge to keep you updated on a regular basis.

All contributions raised will go directly to McKayla, Coco and Penelope.

With heartfelt gratitude,

McKayla Salazar, the Andrade family, and the Martinez family.
