Cian & Paula's Fundraiser for Purple House

Hi All,

I'm raising money in aid of Purple House Cancer Support by partaking in a Crossfit Challenge with my local Crossfit gym on the 27th of August 2022.

Cancer is a word many people don't fully understand until someone close to them is directly affected; the road is long and challenging and often comes with many unexpected twists and turns. Last November, my mum Paula was diagnosed with stage 3 Sarcoma. Sarcoma is a relatively rare muscular cancer. In the coming months Mum underwent chemo and radiotherapy, then in mid-April, she underwent an arduous 12-hour operation. Thanks to the great work from the team at the Institute of Orthopaedic & Musculoskeletal Science in London, the surgery was a huge success. However, there is still a long road ahead. Often times people assume that the journey ends once the cancer is treated…but for most, it’s the start of their journey to recovery.

This is how I first heard of Purple House and I have now witnessed firsthand the fantastic work Purple House does for people living with cancer and those in recovery. Throughout mum's journey, she has attended their Creative Art and Wellbeing class, as well as one-to-one counseling, and is now a member of the Cancer Thriving and Surviving Programme.

The money you donate will go directly towards aiding Purple House in helping over 1,500 families each year in Ireland by providing cancer support services to people of all ages, children and adults.
