Hey,

My name is Stephen Evans. I was born and raised in Bolton, Ontario, a small town just north of the GTA. I grew up with my Mom-Karen, Dad-Andrew and Sister-Alanna in a humble home in the older part of town. After spending our whole childhood in the same place, my sister and myself grew older and moved out of our Bolton home. She began studying at Western University and spent her summers away from home, exploring the West Coast of Canada, only coming back for breif periods of time between work and school. I myself, decided to stay at home for Univserity and commute daily, keeping my roots in Bolton and with my family. However, this past winter I took the plunge to move out of the house and begin studing abroad in Denmark for the current winter semester. 

Being a family person and a self admitted momma's boy, I packed my bags, wiped away some tears and moved out of my home, leaving my parents in an empty nest for 6 months.

March 20th, 2016. After spending 2 months abroad and plans for my Mom to come visit in late April, I received a Facebook message that no one wants to read. "Mum has some very bad news. There was a fire at our house. We are both OK, but the house is very damaged".

My heart has never dropped as much as it did reading that message. A fire started in the backyard of my home, spread to the house and destroyed the home where I grew up. 

It is in this time that I am seeking to travel back home, support my family and do whatever I can to get them back on their feet. 

I have a limited budget during my time abroad, so I am using this Go-Fund-Me for a plane ticket from Copenhagen to Toronto, allowing me to see my family and salvage what I can from my home. 

It is the memories that count, not tangible materials. It would mean the world to me to be able to collect the countless pictures, letters, birthday cards and lovenotes that I have kept since I was 7 years old. 

Every donation, regardless of the amount is apprecaited. All donations in excess of the plane ticket amount will be given to my family in the reconstruction of the house.  I thank you for reading my story and hope you can make my dream a reality.
