Church’s Emergency Veterinary Bills
Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Skye and my mother’s name is Ming. Today we were running errands when we saw a dog get hit by a car in a major intersection. The car that hit the dog paused momentarily but did not see where she ran so they continued on. We followed along the main road until I saw her in the parking lot. She had blood splattered all along her underside and was unable to put pressure on one of her front paws it was so badly injured. So we got her wrapped in a beach towel and put her in my backseat. The sweetest girl, she didn’t growl or bark, she just needed help.
We got her to an emergency pet hospital nearby and into their care immediately. With no collar, and no microchip, they asked my mother and I if we would take responsibility for her and her care and of course we said yes! This poor girl was incredibly malnourished, her ribs were clearly visible, she had scars on her body, and we could not have let her go to a crowded kennel community.
After having pain medication, x-ray’s, antibiotics, a hospital stay, and blood work, at an emergency clinic cost, it turned into a much larger bill than my mother and I can handle during the pandemic.
We have two other rescue pets at home and are completely capable of caring for another sweet baby. The emergency bills were much more than we had planned for but whatever she needed to feel safe and comfortable again was the goal. As we intend on making her a part of our family there will be continuing medical bills for her follow up care that will become necessary in the next few weeks. Like earlier mentioned, she was not microchipped so naturally she has not been spayed or vaccinated yet either. Spay, vaccinations, blood work, heart worm treatment, flea and tick prevention, and daily bandage changes supervised by a doctor for her injuries are all adding up quickly.
We’ve named her Church and we can’t wait to bring her to her home. If you can donate even a little bit to help us assist this kind girl on her journey of healing we’d be eternally grateful!
Lots of love and many mahalos,
Skye and Ming
