This is Cyle Adair who served in the Bahia Blanca Mission (2002-2004) with the Wajchmans in their first year as mission presidents. I've been talking with other missionaries and had this idea that would show great appreciation for President and Hermana Wajchman for their dedicated service and love to us and so many others in Argentina.
Recently President Luis Wajchman retired from CES (Church Education System). We would like to give President and Hermana Wajchman a retirement gift of a church history trip here in the USA. They have always dreamed of being able to do this but the cost is sizable. So we would like to SURPRISE them with this trip!
****Do NOT mention this directly to the Wajchmans or post publicly on social media as this is supposed to be a surprise that we will give them. But feel free to message and share with people privately. (Text, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, DM, etc.) We would like to present this news on our next mission reunion (via Zoom) in a few month. (June or as soon as we have the funds)****
The Plan
Here is an example itinerary of what the trip could look like. When the trip actually takes place would depend on various factors. Regardless of when they choose to come, we'll definitely plan a mission reunion in Salt Lake City!
- Oct. 2nd - Wajchmans fly to Utah from Mendoza.
- Oct. 4th - Mission reunion before General conference. (Location TBD)
- Oct. 5-6th - They can attend and watch sessions of GC.
- Oct. 7th-20th - Church History Tour. Here is the tour (by Webb Tours) that we've heard good things about and think they would enjoy. You can see itinerary, pictures, and details. - Oct. 20-23rd - Arrive back in Salt Lake City and enjoy time with family and visit people around the Utah area. (I believe Hermana Wajchman has a cousin in UT valley area).
- Oct. 24 - Fly back to Mendoza, Argentina.
The Cost
Here is the estimated cost. All money will go directly to the Wajchman's for the trip. If we are able to save on any of these estimated costs the money will still go to the Wajchman to use.
- $2,400 - Round trip Flight from Mendoza Argentina to Salt Lake City. Depart October 2nd and Return October 23rd.
- $4,600 -LDS church history tour. Estimated cost on a fall tour that would let them see most all of the LDS history sites.
- $600 - One way flight from SLC to Boston, MA for two people on 10.7.24 to start LDS tour
- $500 - One way flight from Kansas City back to SLC for two people on 10.20.24 at end of LDS tour
- $1,400 -Money for meals during tour. It appears that they'll need to pay for approximately one meal per day. 14 days, $100 per day.
- $1,000 - 6 nights hotel accommodations in SLC for before and after tour.
- $500 - Rental car in SLC area for days before and after tour
- $1,000 - Spending money, incidentals, and miscellaneous expenses… i.e. gas money, taxis, baggage fees, other meals, etc..
Total is $12,000
This year marks 21 years since they began their time as mission presidents in July 2003.
I hope, along with many others, that you will donate to this cause to help make a dream of theirs a reality. They sacrificed so much for each of us and this can show them a little love and appreciation for what they have done for us. Even a $20 donation will help as many hands make light work. Again, please do not post this publicly on social media or share with the Wajchmans. This is a surprise and we'd like to keep it that way until we tell them this great news at our next reunion which we will let everyone know in advance.
