Chula's ER Vet Visit

I’d like to begin by sincerely thanking anyone who reads this & by fully acknowledging that times are really tough for a LOT of people right now. If you know me even a little bit you know how much my dog means to me and that I'd do anything for her. Which has lead me here, doing something I’ve never done before, but her emergency room visit last month put me in a position where I am struggling to financially recover. I made this while I was in the ER with her; I couldn't bring myself to post it beyond reddit but now after a month of trying to recoup, I am here asking for help.

We are also heading back to the vet early this afternoon. Last night around 11pm she had bloody diarrhea. She's been going about once every hour since so we are heading to her vet today at 12:30 to see what's going on. I know they will do fecal labs (unsure of that cost) and the examine itself is $85. Please send good vibes that it's nothing serious!

A little back story of how we wound up in the ER for three days- Around 4am on a Thursday morning, I heard my baby dry heaving so I got up to check on her. She threw up and there was a good amount of blood in the bile. She also had diarrhea that was bloody as well. I immediately called VEG to see what the wait time was there & took her in right away. They gave her fluids and an anti-vomiting medication and sent us home, stating that if she got sick before the medication had worn off (24 hours) to bring her in again. That visit was a little over $400. We made it to hour 20, and my poor baby got sick again. We went right back to the ER and this time they wanted to run tests, blood work, x-rays and ultrasound on her belly. This would come out to just under $1500. Once the labs came back (I was a WRECK at this point lol) they said she was showing some abnormalities in her abdominal area and was so severely dehydrated that they needed to admit her right away and keep her to have her on fluids/receive treatment overnight. They sent me the treatment plan, it was about $2300 for a 24 hour stay.

Early Friday morning VEG called me and said she was okay but hadn't been eating, so I offered to bring her chicken and rice. She was sooo excited to see me but she still wouldn't eat. They called for another x-ray and ultrasound, another $220. Everything came back mostly okay so they were hoping she was just stressed from being there overnight, which I agreed was likely the issue. The grand total was just under $5k in just three days. We are eternally grateful for the care she received, VEG is an incredible facility that went above and beyond for me and my baby girl.

After I was able to bring her home, I scheduled a follow up with her actual vet right away (this would be another $85). They examined her and let me know she was in good shape and out of the woods! Chula is now on a daily medication to help with her acid reflux (what they think was causing issues) and things have been going well for her (until last night).

This happening right before Christmas and around rent being due really set us back. I am doing my best to keep my head above water but seem to be treading because I cannot catch a break. I just had to buy a new battery for my car last weekend>.<

Please let me know if you have any questions! Anything ($ or ever a share) is much appreciated!<3<3<3
