We were just faced with a horrible decision: go further in debt or let Chuck die. He had found a comb and mistaken it for a Nylabone. For three weeks, we took him back and forth to the vet and the emergency vet, but they couldn't figure out why he wasn't eating. Eventually, we landed at the emergency vet again, and they said we have to figure this out now. We need to keep him overnight, and we will do an ultrasound in the morning.
At the emergency vet, they have you pay everything up front. I had just come off an unpaid leave for cancer treatment, so real money wasn't available. I maxed out my Care Credit, asked for more, and was turned down. I was able to hide the rest on a credit card. I couldn't let our guy go just before his second birthday. We hadn't even had him a full year! Anyway, they removed two hairy pieces of comb from his intestines and kept him 3 days in the hospital. He is recovering well now and can't wait till he can have playdates. Anything you could do to help would be appreciated, and if you'd like a playdate, let me know. Chuck needs more friends.
