Most of you know Chuck’s story, but for those who don’t — Chuck has been bravely battling stage 4 cholangiocarcinoma, also known as bile duct cancer, for the past 10 months. It took doctors nearly 8 months to diagnose him, and sadly, that was precious time lost.
Before anything else, we want to say thank you — to everyone who has prayed, donated, checked in, and supported this family through the darkest parts of this journey. Since Chuck’s diagnosis in October 2024, they’ve faced more than their share of obstacles, but they could not have made it this far without the strength and generosity of this incredible community.
Many of you know that Chuck has been seen by numerous doctors across Sheridan, Billings, Denver, and City of Hope in Arizona. Due to the aggressive nature of his cancer, several doctors told us there was nothing more they could do and suggested palliative and hospice care.
But giving up has never been in Chuck’s nature — and it’s not in ours, either.
With unwavering faith and determination, Victoria got on the phone and began reaching out to cancer centers across the country, hoping to find someone willing to give Chuck another chance. Though he was turned down by MD Anderson due to insurance restrictions and Mayo Clinic as well, she did not stop searching.
Recently, our prayers were answered — Chuck was accepted into a clinical trial based in Billings. While we don’t yet know what this new treatment will bring, we are holding tightly to hope. This trial offers a new path forward, and we are choosing to believe in possibilities, not limits.
Chuck has not been able to work since he was diagnosed in October, and Victoria has been doing everything she can to keep their family going — working when possible while also making sure Chuck gets to all of his appointments, many of which are out of town. If he’s able to continue care through the clinical trial or other treatment options, they will require even more travel, which of course adds to their financial burden.
In the past 3 months alone, Chuck has been hospitalized three times. Each stay has been physically and emotionally draining — and added to the growing medical expenses.
Unfortunately, Chuck did not qualify for Medicaid, so they’ve had to purchase a health insurance plan through the marketplace, which includes high monthly premiums and out-of-pocket costs for his ongoing treatments.
The fundraiser held last November was an incredible blessing, and it truly helped them get through some of the hardest months. But nearly a year has passed, and those funds are running low — while Chuck’s battle continues. Chuck and Victoria have always struggled with asking for help, especially when it comes to finances but with everything their facing they’ve had to set pride aside and lean on the support of those around them asking to help.
Please consider donating to this GoFundMe to help ease the financial burden in the coming months as Chuck continues to fight for his life. Every dollar helps more than you know. And if you’re unable to give, we ask for your continued prayers and love for this beautiful family we all know and care about so deeply.
