Chuck's Vet Fund

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Blake, and my best friend is pretty sick. My dog, Chuck, was diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy in May of 2016. I've done my best for the last 3 years to keep up with this chronic but treatable illness, but I need some help to keep him happy and healthy.

Your donations would help me defray the costs of Chuck's hospitalizations, costly lifelong medications, blood tests and vet visits. I am doing all I can to absorb and be responsible for these costs, but I am left unable to do more if the need arose. The last few months have seen a string of extremely expensive tests and a hospital stay. I am including the costs for these most recent events, but have assumed much, much more debt attempting to manage Chuck's epilepsy. All I want is to give Chuck the best years he has remaining with me.

Let Me Tell You About My Best Friend

I rescued Chuck in October of 2015. He was a nervous little man who wanted, more than anything, to be loved. I don't know what his life was like before me, but I promised him I'd do my best to make his time with me the best I possibly could.

Excuse the slobber, pets get us worked up

We had a great first few months getting to know each other. I learned that he loves to chew and isn't really a big fan of soft toys. He learned I didn't like him burrowing into my trash cans or chewing my hands for fun.

Chuck had his first seizure in late May, 2016. It was maybe the most harrowing five minutes of my life. We went from a peaceful afternoon nap on the couch to my best pal collapsing as he trembled and shook and salivated. He whined in fear and paced the room afterwards while I stopped trembling long enough to get ready to take him to the vet.

His first seizure was sure to not be his last, and what followed was a cycle of several months of seizing, medication adjustments, blood tests and hospital visits, as various medication options failed to help him.

Thankfully we eventually found a medication combination that worked for us, and we had over half a year of seizure free peace. Unfortunately, his seizures started to return in January of this year, and we have been struggling to find a medication regimen that works for us since. I am so thankful that we are currently over a month without a seizure.

It's taken us the better part of six months, countless tests and a few vet hospital visits, but I'm hopeful that we have found a new solution to stop the worst of his seizure clusters. Unfortunately, none of that was free and I find myself in a crippling financial situation preventing me from being able to seek further treatment if another cluster were to hit us.  That's where you come in.

Seizures won't stop us from having best friends

How You Can Help

Your donations, no matter how small, could help me go a long way to keeping Chuck seizure free, managing his epilepsy and spending more time doing the things he loves. Even if you can't donate now, sharing my campaign among your social circle would make me enormously thankful. Please help me keep my promise to my best boy.
