GREAT NEWS! Our dear friend Chuck Sonntag is home from his terrible and difficult surgery. He's had a rough time, of course - they had to remove a bone from his right leg, and he's got a some tough months of recovery ahead.
If you know Chuck, you know he's been dealing with a lifelong bone disease that keeps coming back at him. And you know he's a fighter. But this time he needs your help.
Doctors wanted to put Chuck in a rehab facility but his friends and family have decided that's too much of a risk with the COVID virus pandemic and his compromised immune system. The virus is a huge threat to those places.
So, no way in Hell we'll allow that. Not this time.
We're taking him home, and the WE LOVE CHUCK COMMITTEE is taking responsibility under the direction of Christy Ruest, his very close friend of many, many years. It will be especially difficult because, with the COVID virus, nobody can visit. NOBODY.
(No, not even you, even though he loves you, too. He told me he does.)
We're also very worried because he is not being given any additional financial support. That's really wrong, but there is nothing we can do to change it. What we can do is gather donations to help pay for this difficult period of care. And we know his friends are ready to help.
Chuckie needs full time and overnight home care, which is not paid for at all (I know, crazy right?). He also needs food and nutrition, which will require more funds than usual. And he needs much more - but he needs you most of all. Please donate what you can afford to help him in this difficult time. Thank you from all of us on the WE LOVE CHUCK COMMITTEE. Every dollar will go to his care. Every cent.
And we know it's tough, but please don't visit him. He'll be on Facebook and phone, and would love to hear from you once he gets settled back home. We hope he's home by the end of the week. And when the virus passes, we'll all get to see him in person.
