Hello, Beauties!!!
My name is Kathleen Greenwood MacKay. I am a singer, and a daughter of singers. My father, Chuck Greenwood, and I have recently been persuaded to record some of the folk music we have been singing together for the last 50 years. I started this campaign to fund this project.
The money raised will go to pay for the studio, the actual recording process, and post-recording mixing; travel expenses during the recording sessions ( my Dad lives about three hours away); and duplication and packaging of the final product.
We go into the studion on April 3rd, 2017! Less than a month away; less than a month to raise enough to pay for the first part of the process! I'm exhilirated and terrified at the same time!
"But Kathleen, why should we help? Why does making a professional recording matter?"
All my life, my father and mother used their gift of music passionately, to sing out against injustice, to lead others in raising their own voices, and to light a flame of joy and creativity against the darkness of opression and narrow-mindedness - and also just made some damn fine music along the way, that moved hearts, and brightened smiles. I have followed in their footsteps, and I beleive that this project with my father will keep that flame alight. We plan to do songs that are endearingly special to both of us: songs from my childhood, songs that made a difference on our lives, songs to inspire, songs to just rejoice in listening to. This is a way for me to keep the gift that they gave me alive, and pass it forward.
The opportunity to complete this project is a dream come true for me, on a personal and global level. Not only will all donations recieve my deepest gratitude, and my Dad's, but I think even a small donation will serve to add your light to this flame, and add your voice to this complilation of creativity, longevity, and joy. We welcome and appreciate your support!
