The Connecticut High School Musical Theater Awards (CHSMTA) is now in it's 7th season as Connecticut's preeminent High School Musical Theater Awards program.
The program was founded by Brett A. Bernardini to: encourage schools to implement, fund and staff high school usical theater educational programs; promote high-quality musical theater education opportunities as valid career training; celebrate outstanding achievements in high school musical theater education on stage, behind the scenes and in the classroom; recognize musical theater as a necessary and important educational opportunity for students of all abilities and backrounds; to honor the collective community that is high school musical theater in Connecticut and throughout the United States.
CHSMTA has represented Connecticut at The National High School Musical Theater Awards, held annually in New York City. Over the past 6 years of Nationals, Connecticut has sent 12 students (Outstanding Actor 7 Actress recipients). Of those 12 students, 8 of them have been finalists and 2 of them have won Nationals! Our track record for excellence speaks for itself.
Our 7th Annual, Black-tie awards gala, will be held on June 1, 2015 at The Palace Theater in Waterbury, CT, bringing together more than 2,000 students, parents, educators and VIP's for a celebration of excellence.
2015 marks the first year that CHSMTA is it's own company, having been previously housed under the umbrella of Mr. Bernardini's previous company. Since this organization is starting from ground zero, your financial support is needed more so than ever.
Events tickets and program ad sales will only cover so much of the expenses. We are asking you for your help.
This year, we are looking to raise $20,000; $10,000 will be used to create both financial scholarships for students and the other $10,000 will cover the registration fee for Nationals (Due the first week of May!)
Any money raised about the $20,000 goal will be used to help cover bus transportation for the participating high schools as well as defray ticket expenses for students.
Your donation will go directly to ensuring the future of this exceptional program and the future of high-quality, musical theater education in Connecticut's High Schools.
