The Chelmsford High School Marching Band has been chosen to represent the state of Massachusetts in the country's Annual 4th of July Parade in Washington, DC this year. And, the Orchestra has been invited to CHS orchestra will be performing as part of the National Festival of the States.
While honored, some members are unsure if they can participate in this once-in-a-lifetime event. The reason? There simply is no funding available from the school department or the town to help these deserving kids with their travel expenses. And, with a pricetag nearing $800 dollars, it is not easy to find that extra money in many household budgets.
A group of parents has joined with Chelmsford Friends of Music, a community based non-profit, to create this GOFUNDME site to try to raise funds for the band and orchestra to travel by bus to Washington and participate in the parade and concert.
Can you help with a donation, even a small one, to help get the kids to Washington? Your donation to Chelmsford Friends of Music, will go to help defray the Band and Orchestra's travel expenses.
