Chrysalis 2024 Arnhem Land initiative
Donation protected
Class 9 students from Chrysalis are preparing for a journey of a lifetime. They are travelling up to the top end of Australia. Our goal is to spend some time in the remote Indigenous community of Gunbalanya, located in Arnhem Land and to raise money to complete work for a community project. The project will be designed with careful consideration from Local Elders to ensure that it will be meaningful and valued.
Our current Class 10's went earlier this year and it was truly a life changing experience for the group. They fundraised to ensure that the community project they undertook was of the highest standard. The project they completed was in a nearby outstation by the name of Mikginj Valley. Past Elder Jacon Nayinggul's grave site needed work. His daughter Connie Nayinggul who resides at the outstation asked us to fix up his and other family members' grave sites along with some landscaping. The group also helped remove problematic weeds at the famous Injalak Art Centre.

At this stage, we are still finalising the type of work that the group will undertake in 2024. An estimation of the capital we have to work with will allow an accurate estimation of the type of project that can be completed.
The finances will be split 50/50 between reducing the cost of the trip to the school and purchasing raw materials for building our community project. The more donations, the greater our contribution to this community will be and the more impact our students will have.

Class 9 are seeking donations to support this group to make a difference.
Thank you!
