Willa Cather Elementary School, located on the West Side of Chicago, is home to a vibrant and curious student body. As a Title I school serving a population that is 95% low-income, we strive every day to provide our students with the best possible education and opportunities. However, we are currently facing a significant challenge: our middle school students are in desperate need of new Chromebooks. The computers we have were new before the pandemic, but over time, many have become inoperable or obsolete. With most of our curriculum now online-based, having reliable technology is no longer a luxury—it is a necessity for our students to keep up and succeed. Unfortunately, our school budget simply cannot stretch to cover the cost of new computers at this time. I have been a teacher at Willa Cather for nearly 30 years, and this school community means the world to me. I have seen firsthand the determination and potential of our students, and I want to do everything I can to support them. This fundraiser is my way of ensuring that our kids have the tools they need to learn, grow, and reach their full potential.
