Chromebook Donation for Aiea Intermediate Students

Donation protected
Here we go again! I will be participating in the Honolulu Marathon (26.2 miles) on December 11, 2022 as a charity walk. My purpose is to raise money to purchase Chromebook computers for underserved students at Aiea Intermediate School, where I currently teach EL/ELA.

Aiea Intermediate is a Title 1 school (schools in which children from low-income families make up at least 40 percent of enrollment), and many of our students do not have computers at home to be able to study and do their homework. As a result, many of these students fall behind in their school work, and their grades and learning both suffer. The school has recently been giving out their very old decommissioned Chromebooks to these students so that they at least have something, but they are not expected to last very long.

As we have recently seen during the pandemic, the digital divide has created a world of haves and have nots that leaves far too many kids behind. I would like to help improve this disparity in my own small way by providing a brand new Chromebook to as many of these kids as possible, something decent that will last them several years.

Chromebooks cost $200 a piece, so should I be able to reach my goal of $2000 we will be able to provide computers for 10 students to support their academic achievement and success (although I'd love to provide even more than that).

How many we can provide depends on your donations, so thank you all in advance for your generosity in helping these amazing students and giving them an opportunity for a successful future.
