Hello friends and family of Cristy and Clay,

My name is Stacey Pierce, and I am Cristy and Clay’s sister-in-law. I’m reaching out today on behalf of Cristy and Clay to ask for your love, prayers, and support as they face an incredibly difficult time.

As many of you know, Cristy was diagnosed with breast cancer on March 1, 2024. After being initially misdiagnosed, she became her own best advocate - pushing for answers until she received the news no one ever wants to hear: “You have cancer, and it’s stage 2.”

Cristy made the brave decision to undergo a radical mastectomy and lymphoid removal for Stage 2 metastatic Breast Cancer. She was assured by the doctors that they had removed all the cancer and affected lymph nodes. The news we all prayed for came - she was cancer-free!

But Cristy’s journey didn’t end there. Over the past year, she continued to struggle with persistent back pain, which she chalked up to her years of dancing in heels (because if you know Cristy, you know how much she loves to dance!). Then recently, she discovered another lump under her arm. Once again, her concerns were initially dismissed by doctors - and once again, she had to fight to be heard.

After further testing, Cristy and Clay received devastating news… a lymph node was missed during her first surgery, and the cancer had returned - this time as Stage 4, because they also found a spot on her spine.

❤️ Their Current Battle

Over the past 5 years, Cristy and Clay have endured many unimaginable challenges. They lost everything in a house fire, including all Cristy’s inventory for her company Morph Clothing. This loss caused Cristy to have to put her business on the back burner which has been a complete loss of income. Both Clay and Cristy’s mom’s passed this year, along with many other family challenges, and now they are facing cancer for the second time in just a year and a half.

Despite those challenges, they’ve continued to remain resilient, positive, and focused on helping and loving others.

They have decided to move Cristy’s care from MUSC to Emory Hospital in Atlanta, where she can receive treatment from some of the best specialists available. While this is absolutely the right move, it comes with significant costs. Medical bills, travel expenses, medications, rent, and everyday living costs are quickly adding up and adding significant pressure and stress, as you might imagine.

Clay has stepped fully into the role of caregiver, driver, chef, and advocate, leaving little time to work and earn income with his own business. The financial strain has become overwhelming on the two of them.
