Christy Pierce-Support during Chemo

Christy is the mother of two sons. The oldest graduated from high school this past June and the younger one will be a junior this year. She lost her job in August 2016 due to a downturn in business. She was on unemployment until the end of January, but has not been able to find a job since. She had to rent out herhouse to pay the mortgage and went to live with her boyfriend. Her renters are in the process of buying the home, now.
On June 29, 2017, She went in for surgery to repair her esophageal sphincter. She has had problems with reflux for years. No other treatment had helped. Before the Doctor did the repair, he found a mass in her liver that he was sure was cancerous. Rather than cause undue stress on her body, he took a biopsy and closed her up to do further tests.  After a week of tests, another cancerous tumor was found in her colon. The Doctor recommended she go to Roswell Park Cancer Center in Buffalo, NY, for a consultation. They reviewed her records and gave here only a 25% chance of survival. They recommended that she go to a local hospital that they are associated with to have her treatment. The first week was simply testing and blood work. The second week she had her first round of chemotherapy. Week three was a week off and week four she would have her second round of chemotherapy. When she arrived at the hospital on week four, hery blood work showed that her blood levels were too low to proceed. She had to wait another week before she could begin. This will happen two more times before she is finished, at which time they will do more tests and re-evaluate hery condition.
In the meantime, she is too sick to look for work, nor does she expect that anyone would hire her under these circumstances. Although paperwork has been started, that, if accepted by New York State, would allow her to receive disability, it will take at least six to eight months before anything is final and her friends and family are doing all that they can. She can't pay her bills and will soon lose her car. Asking for help is not an easy thing for her to do. She has always tried to find a way to take care of her family without burdening others, but this has become too big for her to handle alone. Thank you for any support you feel led to provide.
