My cousin Chris, age 56, felt ill just after Easter of this year and went to the Emergency Department at Michael Garron Hospital. He was there for five days and diagnosed with Esophageal cancer. An appointment was made for June 5 at Sunnybrook Hospital for a PET (Positron Emission Tomography) scan to determine the stage of the cancer. Little did we know it was already stage 4.
On Sunday, May 18, during the Victoria Day weekend, Chris suffered a stroke from a blood clot caused by the cancer and taken to St. Michael's Hospital. The blood clot was removed, and Chris was kept in the ICU. He was responsive for two days and then suffered two more strokes from blood clots with the second stroke being massive. He was then placed on a ventilator and the doctors stated that the cancer was in his bones. Chris remained in the ICU for just under two weeks and passed away the morning of Friday, May 30, 2025. Chris' loving wife Spiridoula and his two teenage sons, Dimitrios and Vasilios, were by his side every day during those difficult days.
This fundraiser is created to support Spiridoula and the boys for household expenses and the expensive cost of a funeral and burial.
Thank you to everyone for their generosity during these difficult times.
