Christopher’s Molokai Crossing
Donation protected
In tribal societies there was often a test that proved a person could transition from childhood to become an adult. Very few of these tests still exist today. So we have adults that are still emotionally children.
As you all know my son Christopher is a Hawaiian outrigger canoe paddler. This year he will face his test. Christopher will attempt to cross the Ka’iwi channel from Molokai to Oahu three times this year. He’ll do it once with a crew of nine, once with a friend, and once by himself. In each of these events only a small handful of 16-18 year olds will make the attempt. Boys and girls start the races. Men and women will finish.
Ka’iwi in the Hawaiian language is “The channel of bones.” It can be unforgiving. Therefore preparation and safety are paramount. These preparations are costly. Please donate what you can and help spread the word. If you are a business and would like to sponsor Christopher or any of his teammates, please contact me.
