Hi, my name is Beth and I am fundraising to help Chris' children and family with funeral/memorial expenses.
This fundraiser is to help temporarily stabilize the household that he left behind, cover funeral/memorial expenses, and ease the transition for his closest loved ones.
Chris was my step-dad. He lived with my mom and siblings for about 6 years. He and I didn't see eye-to-eye very often; I had my views and he had his, and we were both stubborn and hot-headed. We also both had a lot of emotional baggage. The odd time that we shared the same views and opinions, we made a power team.
Chris was a bottomless pit of interesting facts and useful information, and often told us things that amazed us. He always had a solution for everything and could find a way to fix just about anything. He was a generous person, and not only with his knowledge.
Chris was beautifully imperfect, but he was just right for my mom, and he made her happy. He was a straight shooter - never one to beat around the bush or sugarcoat things. He was one of the most honest people I knew.
He was kind to friends and lived to make people laugh. He loved being surrounded by friends and family and hoped to one day mend his relationship with his three kids that he loved dearly and was very proud of.
He treasured past memories with his kids and held on to all of the positive moments as far back as he could remember, always sharing the positive, joyful memories with anyone who would lend an ear.
Chris recently lost to a lifelong battle with depression; those who knew him well, knew what he was going through and saw his pain. He won't be able to invite his friends out for drinks and tell them every joke he knows over and over until they tire. He won't be coming home to my mom to tell her about who he met and sparked conversation with, or what he discovered on his 12km+ walks throughout the city anymore. He'll never timekeep a hockey game, cheer on the Leafs or watch the Super Bowl (while explaining everything to my mom) again. His hockey goal-keeping days have sadly come to an end.
Chris was known and loved by many, and he will be missed. There is a deafening silence where his joyful, rambunctious presence filled the room.
RIP Christopher Michael Percy Piper
With his passing, he left behind his three young adult children, as well as his girlfriend, three step-children, and a "step-granddaughter" (as he would call her) mourning him.
Please help me to help his loved ones, and myriad of friends celebrate his life in a way that will truly honour Chris' memory.
