Hi, My name is Rebecca. I am Christopher Hansen sister. On November 28 2023, Chris was involved in a car accident on the Alaska highway. He was taken to Fort St John hospital where he went into cardiac arrest and they spent 30 minutes doing CPR. After they were able to bring back his pulse, they did a CT scan. With the damage he sustained from the impact he needed surgery and we unfortunately do not have the surgeon needed here in Fort St John. He was airvaced to Edmonton AB on November 29 2023. Where he was able to have the surgery he needed. Over the next two week they started to lower his sedation and started physical therapy. The took the tubes out of his mouth and he had a tracheotomy done. On Monday December 18 2023 Chris had another heart attack. The did CPR for 15 minutes before they were able to get a pulse. A couple of days later Chris declined during the night. He was send for a CT scan where they saw his intestines were leaking in to him. He went for surgery the same day to clean everything and check to see the damage. On December 24 2023 he went back in for surgery to put in a colostomy bag. On December 31 2023 his trach fell out and he had to have CPR for 5 minutes. He went in for another surgery to fix it. Since then Chris has been improving. Each day he does physio therapy with the nurses and using the vent less. On January 23 2024, Chris started to come off the ventilator for a couple of hours with just oxygen through the nose. With him being off the ventilator he has been able to be wheeled around the hospital. This has brought his sprits up. On February 7 2024, Chris did some tests to see if he was able to swallow food and water. On February 8 2024 Chris got his Trach removed. He is still in the ICU. We have created a Facebook Page called Chris hansen-updates. This is where my Dad, Ken Hansen updates everyone. It is also a place you can leave words of encouragement for Chris as he reads each one.

Thank you for all your support, all donations and shares mean the world to us. All proceeds will be going to Chris Medical cost and recovery.
