It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Christopher (“Kip”) Hubert James Forsey on February 18, 2026 at the age of 40.

Please consider donating to a fund for his children.

Christopher is lovingly remembered by his adoring wife Katiellen Petten, and will live on through his two children August and Aoife who were his whole world. He will be dearly missed by his parents Genevieve and Reginald Forsey, sister Heather (Chad, Keira, Hanna), brother Mark, father- and mother-in-law Frank and Elaine Petten, and a large circle of friends and family – aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws – too many to name.

Christopher was a devoted husband and father. He radiated love, for his family, for his friends. You couldn’t help but smile when he walked into the room. He would pull you into his orbit with a big hug and make you feel at home wherever you were, whenever it was.

Kip grew up in a loving family, chasing around his older siblings, building Lego with his best friend Rob, and hiding away with his beloved books. As an adult he remained curious about everything and was willing to try anything once. He was passionate about beekeeping, rock climbing, skiing, weekends with his friends, and all things homesteading. He loved an adventure and spent many years travelling the world, exploring nature, and making lifelong memories with his friends and family. Christopher lived a rich and full life.

To many, Christopher was a beacon of support, someone who listened to them on the hard days and walked with them through their challenging times. He wished for a world that treated everyone with care and kindness, no matter their circumstances in life. He worked alongside his community to make that a reality, in particular through his time and involvement with housing justice and those experiencing homelessness.

Christopher dreamed of a peaceful life in the woods. First in Bergen, Alberta in a magical one-room cabin set amongst the poplars and the evergreens, and most recently in Markland where he was building a forever home for his family. He dreamed of many years full of simple mornings dancing in the kitchen with Katiellen and their kids, and days meandering the trails he built for them in their forest.
