FRIENDS. HAPPY NEW YEAR
Last year I was honored to have a cassette released on Aventures LTD. That was an amazing experience and it has inspired me to make something new.
Im in the process of finishing my first full length LP which I will be self-releasing this spring. The two sides are assembled from live recordings of performances I participated in last year, paired with field recordings and studio edits. The sounds tend to focus on my response(electronics and harmonica) to time, the ocean, the wind, the moon, the sun, and processing/creating my own relationship with death- a lot of death lately.
These pieces lean towards heavy atmospheric ambience, signaled by responses to the ebb and flow of the ocean. They embody a balance struck between darkness and light, I imagine they are life cycles.
I'm excited to share this work, presented on vinyl and paired with images and other visual ideas I've collected over the year.
It feels right to take steps to marry my visual work with my sonic work as I move forward.
The time is now.
As mentioned, the sounds are a collection of live recordings from performances at lovely places shared with lovely people:
-February 16, 2019 - Coaxial(LA) w/ Jim Haynes and Rogue Squares.
-April 14, 2019 - Zebulon(LA) w/ Felisha Atkinson and Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe.
-July 20, 2019- Center for New Music(SF) w/ I M A and Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe.
-August 29, 2019- The Ocean performance at Bemis Center, Omaha Nebraska
-September 21, 2019- Head Hi(NY) as part of Adventures LTD
I decided to do this go fund me as more of a pre-order. you can buy a record in several forms. Buying it this way gets you limited, hand-built versions which will feel more like art objects.
